This Seminar focuses on portraiture drawing using the academic standards of the Florence Academy of Art, Italy. Through these sessions, the participants will be taught the fundamental techniques and the relevant anatomical knowledge necessary for the construction of an accurate portrait.
Specifically, the participants will be individually guided through demonstrations and critiques so as to develop a better understanding of:
• Blocking and Constructive Lines
• Shadow Line and Shadow Shapes
• Form and Tones
• Light Effect

The workshop can cater participants of any background or skill level and age, as the instructor will address each individual’s needs separately.
It is nonetheless most valuable to students preparing a portfolio for Schools of Fine Arts, university students of similar disciplines seeking specialization in specific fields and finally, amateur and professional artists who want to enrich their skillset. The skillset gained during this seminar, can be applied in many different disciplines depending on the participant’s field of practice, e.g. Fine Art, Animation, Illustration or even Medical Illustration.

Seminar Leader:
Yiannis G. Koromias is a graduate of the Florence Academy of Art in Italy, with specialisation in Academic Drawing and Painting. He later studied Sculpture at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, University of Dundee, in Scotland. Having developed a particular interest in human anatomy and the special relationship that exists between Figurative Art and Anatomy, he completed a Human Anatomy Écorché Course in the USA and subsequently earned an MSc degree with Distinction in Craniofacial Identification and Forensic Art at the Centre for Anatomy and Human Identification, University of Dundee. His work is exhibited in Cyprus and the UK, including Edinburgh University’s Anatomical Museum.
