SUMMARY:> Academic Drawing Seminar
DESCRIPTION:The second seminar builds on the fundamentals of academic drawing but shifts the hierarchies and dynamics of light and shadow.\nThis is achieved with a change of materials – from charcoal on white paper to charcoal/white chalk on grey paper. This transition is considered a fundamental step before introducing oil paint\, which will be presented at a later stage in the third and final seminar of the series.\nThe participants will go through the fundamental principles of academic drawing from a live model\, using different methods of measuring such as the Sight-Size and Comparative Measuring with reference to human anatomy. A combination of presentations and practical exercises will take place in each session.\nThe sessions focus on the fundamental techniques and the relevant anatomical knowledge necessary for the construction of an accurate human figure.\nDuring this process the participants will be individually guided through demonstrations and critiques so as to develop a better understanding of:\n• Blocking and Constructive Lines\n• Shadow Line and Shadow Shapes\n• Form and Tones\n• Light Effect\n• Due to the fact that special individual attention will be given to guide participants\, the workshop will cater for interested individuals\, irrespective of their age\, previous knowledge or experience.\n-Who can participate:\nThis workshop is suitable for students preparing a portfolio for Schools of Fine Arts\, university students of similar disciplines seeking specialization in specific fields and finally\, amateur and professional artists who want to enrich their skillset. \nWorkshop Duration:\n25 Hours \nSchedule:\nWednesday 19/05/21 19.00-21.00\nSaturday 22/05/21 15.00-18.00\nWednesday 26/05/21 19.00-21.00\nSaturday 29/05/21 15.00-18.00\nWednesday 02/06/21 19.00-21.00\nSaturday 05/06/21 15.00-18.00\nWednesday 09/05/21 19.00-21.00\nSaturday 12/05/21 15.00-18.00\nWednesday 16/06/21 19.00-21.00\nSaturday 19/06/21 15.00-18.00 \nFor more information: http://www.thearthub.eu/ 22510100 / Facebook PM\n* IMPORTANT: Limited places available – Early booking is NECESSARY. Last date 17/05/21\n**All participants are requested to use protective face mask and to keep necessary distance amongst them as instructed by the governmental measures for Covid-19.\n*** It is necessary that all participants present a negative antigen rapid test for Covid-19. \nSeminar Leader:\nYiannis G. Koromias is a graduate of the Florence Academy of Art in Italy\, with specialisation in Academic Drawing and Painting. He later studied Sculpture at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design\, University of Dundee\, in Scotland. Having developed a particular interest in human anatomy and the special relationship that exists between Figurative Art and Anatomy\, he completed a Human Anatomy Écorché Course in the USA and subsequently earned an MSc degree with Distinction in Craniofacial Identification and Forensic Art at the Centre for Anatomy and Human Identification\, University of Dundee. His work is exhibited in Cyprus and the UK\, including Edinburgh University’s Anatomical Museum.

SUMMARY:> Raku Workshop with Vassos Demetriou
DESCRIPTION:Raku is a Japanese ceramics technique that dates back to the 16th century; ceramic wares are fired for a short period of time and are removed from the kiln the moment they reach their ideal firing temperature. A western variation of the Raku technique is the addition of organic materials on the hot fired ceramics\, creating an intense reduction process that produces specific colors\, textures\, and metallic highlights with the parallel use of copper\, bismuth and silver oxides. The unpredictable and astonishing results of Raku – the blackened smoked clay and the lively colored glazes that are achieved in just a few hours – still draw great attention and enthusiasm. Let’s learn this unique technique together\, under the guidance of our master ceramist Vassos Demetriou \nVassos Demetriou is a graduate of the ceramic art school of the Istituto d’ Arte per la Ceramica – Faenza in Italy and since 1982 he has his own workshop in Larnaca. He specializes in different ceramic techniques such as raku\, stoneware\, terra sigillata\, copper matte raku and clay. \nDuration of workshop: 8 hours \nDates and times:\n04/06/21 16:00-20:00\n11/06/21 16:00-20:00 \n** IMPORTANT: Limited places available – Early booking is NECESSARY. Last date 03/06/21 **\n***All participants are requested to use protective face mask and to keep necessary distance amongst them as instructed by the governmental measures for Covid-19\n**** All participants must present a negative weekly Rapid test
